Sigma Iota In Action
The members of Sigma Iota Chapter donated their grilling expertise to feed more than 150 volunteers and staff at the Food Bank’s Volunteer Appreciation Picnic on August. 8, and raised more than $600 for the Food Bank via their Virtual Food Drive.
Community Service Overview
A key tenet of Sigma Iota Chapter emphasizes community service as we lead in assisting the residents of Oakland and the Bay Area academically, economically, politically, and socially.
To that end, Sigma Iota facilitates a number of community service programs including but not limited to:
- Alameda Food Bank Drive
- UNCF Walk-A-Thon
- Neighborhood Safety Awareness (in partnership with Oakland Fire Department)
- Young Adult Talent Hunt
- Back-to-School Supply Drive
- Voter Registration
- Health Care Seminars
- Oakland Children’s Hospital Holiday Celebration
- Neighborhood Kwanza/Christmas Celebration
- Political Awareness & Empowerment Seminar (2010)
- Economic Empowerment Seminar (2010)
