Eligibility

• African American graduating high school students residing in Alameda or Contra Costa counties and enrolled in four (4) year program at a university or college
• Alameda/ Contra Costa Resident
• Minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.5/ 4.0 Scale
• Active in Community Service Initiatives
• Meets the Criteria set forth by all four Cardinal Principals:
  • Manhood - Having a sense of responsibility to family, the community, and self.
  • Scholarship - Ability to show quality performance inside as well as outside the classroom.
  • Perseverance -The ability to start a task and finish it despite difficulties. 
  • Uplift - The ability to elevate or raise those around you.**Legacy Award Winner**

Application

• All applications must be typed or completed in blue or black ink.
• Submit an official school acceptance letter from a university or college.
• Participation in an interview with Sigma Iota Scholarship Committee.
• Submit two written recommendations, preferably from a teacher, minister, employer or community leader.
• Official High School Transcripts.
• Submit a 500 word essay discussing a topic selected by our Scholarship Committee Chairman.
