Eligibility
- African American graduating high school students residing in Alameda or Contra Costa counties and enrolled in four (4) year program at a university or college
- Alameda/ Contra Costa Resident
- Minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.5/ 4.0 Scale
- Active in Community Service Initiatives
- Meets the Criteria set forth by all four Cardinal Principals:
- Manhood - Having a sense of responsibility to family, the community, and self.
- Scholarship - Ability to show quality performance inside as well as outside the classroom.
- Perseverance -The ability to start a task and finish it despite difficulties.
- Uplift - The ability to elevate or raise those around you.**Legacy Award Winner**
Application
- All applications must be typed or completed in blue or black ink.
- Submit an official school acceptance letter from a university or college.
- Participation in an interview with Sigma Iota Scholarship Committee.
- Submit two written recommendations, preferably from a teacher, minister, employer or community leader.
- Official High School Transcripts.
- Submit a 500 word essay discussing a topic selected by our Scholarship Committee Chairman.
